Melting Fat

This has really been bothering me today. I have no idea why. I want to go on the record as saying "melt" is the wrong verb to pair with fat. Fat really doesn't melt away. It is chiseled away. It is hard work -- worthwhile work, no doubt -- but it isn't as easy as lighting a candle and then walking away. Any thoughts from the peanut gallery?

  1. Maybe it's the sweating? To bring on the analogy of something melting?

But I agree it is not easy work... Referring to losing weight by using the terms "melt", "shed", "drop", etc. is just a lie.

  2. I actually like the term melting but I also see your point. HA Melting sounds too sissy or easy or something.

  3. WEll if you compare it to a candle then you're right but have you ever tried to get engine grease off injectors when its solidified there. You have to melt it at a very high heat and use chemicals to wipe it away but if it gets just a bit colder it hardens again. I really think excess fat is like hardened engine grease more then just a candle

  4. @Dawn - it sounds nice so I know what you mean. It is just so much harder than that!

@LadyRaven - Never knew about the engine grease thing. That is helpful for me to think of. I will now think of fat like engine grease rather than just simple wax.
